Amber Laura Heard was born on April 22, 1986, in Austin, Texas. She is the middle child of three daughters of internet researcher Patricia Paige (née Parsons; 1956–2020) and construction company owner David Clinton Heard (born 1950). The family lived outside Austin. Heard's father trained horses in his free time, and she grew up riding horses, hunting, and fishing with him. She also participated in beauty pageants, although as an adult she has said that she could no longer "support the objectification". Raised Catholic, Heard began identifying as an atheist at the age of sixteen after her best friend died in a car crash.

Heard began her acting career with small roles in television series, such as Jack & Bobby (2004) and The Mountain (2004). She made her film debut in the 2004 sports drama Friday Night Lights. In 2006, she had her first leading role in the horror film All the Boys Love Mandy Lane. She then went on to star in films such as Never Back Down (2008), Pineapple Express (2008), The Stepfather (2009), Zombieland (2009), and The Rum Diary (2011).

In 2011, Heard married actor Johnny Depp. The couple divorced in 2016, and Heard filed for a restraining order against Depp, alleging that he had been physically and emotionally abusive during their relationship. Depp denied the allegations, and the couple settled their divorce out of court in 2017.

Heard has continued to work as an actress since her divorce from Depp. She has starred in films such as Drive Angry (2011), Magic Mike XXL (2015), and Aquaman (2018). She is also a social activist and has worked to raise awareness about domestic violence and sexual assault.

In 2022, Heard was involved in a high-profile defamation trial against Depp. Depp sued Heard for $50 million, alleging that she had defamed him by accusing him of domestic violence. Heard countersued Depp for $100 million, alleging that he had defamed her by calling her a liar. The trial lasted six weeks and was highly publicized. In the end, the jury found in favor of Depp and awarded him $10.35 million in damages. Heard was also awarded $2 million in damages.

Despite the outcome of the trial, Heard has said that she is committed to her activism and will continue to speak out against domestic violence and sexual assault. She is also planning to appeal the verdict.

Amber Heard is a talented actress and a passionate social activist. She has faced many challenges in her life, but she has always persevered. She is an inspiration to many and is a role model for women everywhere.
